Patriot Excavating is a division of Grounded Solutions. Locally owned and operated, we began doing excavation for electrical projects, but quickly expanded to handle a variety of other services. Responsibilities
- Perform all management duties, overseeing the excavation division and crews.
- Ensure the department’s activities align with the company’s strategic objectives.
- Assist crews with locates, customer service, scheduling, and billing.
- Client management: kindly and professionally respond to customer queries within 24 hours and return quotes within 7 business days.
- Oversee the maintenance of trucks, equipment, and tools.
- Maintain good communication between the office staff, field staff, other project managers, leadership, as well as customers and vendors.
- Perform both labor and operator tasks as needed to ensure projects operate smoothly.
- Accurately and efficiently repair and install utilities; trench and excavate; grade, seed, and straw, drainage repair and installation, demolition and hauling, as needed.
- Oversee and assist with pouring and finishing of concrete.
- Perform and oversee snow removal in the winter months.
- Deliver products to job sites and/or pull equipment via truck and trailer.
- Maintain our high quality and safety standards, employee appearance and demeanor for self and direct reports.

Qualifications
- Ability to set and meet project deadlines while maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer service.
- Must have knowledge and prior experience in running excavation projects.
- Ability to build and train teams, identify the right tasks for each team member, and delegate responsibilities accordingly.
- The ability to identify and analyze problems, create innovative solutions, and make informed decisions to facilitate project success.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
- Demonstrated experience upholding excellent employee and customer relations.
- A team player who works well with all levels of the organization.
- In depth knowledge of blueprints, surveys, construction setup and utilities.
- Strong strategic thinking and creative planning skills.
- Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment.
- Adaptable; doesn’t mind shifting directions when needed.
Essential Functions
- Must have the physical strength, hand-eye coordination, endurance, and the ability to concentrate on tasks.
- The ability to understand and communicate information is also essential.
- Some tools and machines are computerized, requiring technical knowledge to use.
- Must be able to lift and move 75 pounds overhead, able to stand for long periods of time, and must have the ability to use shovels, rakes, and other power tools.
Additional Requirements
- Must have a clean driving record and possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Must be willing and able to pass a drug screen and background check.
- A Class A CDL License is a plus, but not a requirement.
